The Days Really Are Getting Longer!

I left the barn around 5:15 this evening, driving home in the deep twilight.  This is actually remarkable, since a few short weeks ago it would have been full dark before 5 pm.  Of course we all know intellectually that the days get longer once we've past the winter solstice, but it happens so gradually, a minute here and a minute there, that I for one know that it doesn't feel much like the days are growing ever longer.  But tonight I felt it, the onward march back to the long, lingering days of summer.  It may only read 5 degrees on the thermometer, and the horses may be fat & furry, but summer will come in 2010, and with it many new horsey adventures.
